Trouble2

Teething Trouble.
by
Philip Edwards.

Many people make New Year's resolutions. Mine, made on New Year's Day was to actually write a novel. The idea for the story came to me one night as I drove home. A comedy show was on the radio but I wasn't really listening until one of the guests mentioned, "The capitalist system and the marketisation of teeth." And so the story started. Each time I took my little terrier Alfie for a walk, new ideas and characters would come to me, grow and develop. This was indeed a story that needed telling. A few days into the New Year, I made a start. It is now mid February and I've past 23000 words. Not bad as my initial target was 28000 words.

Now, I'm writing this blog mainly for a brave group of people who have volunteered to help me with my task, Natalie, Mike, Gethin, Poppy and Caitlin. Also, a special thank you to Dyfed, my old boss who once again is casting his eagle eye over my writing. I've told him that my writing is like building a house. I dig the foundations, lay the bricks and add the roof. He's doing the painting and decorating and carpet laying.
Below are the links for the completed chapters.

Ferndale, my old home town. As I write, this is the place that I have in mind.
My old school. Again, where in my mind much of the story takes place.
The old school being demolished.
You can see my grandmother's house just above the top of the tall chimney.
The lake where the fairies live.
If you look closely you can see one of Beth's ducks.
